Legare Farms Education Foundation will host the second annual Fall Harvest Dinner on November 8, 2009

Legare Farms Education Foundation will host the second annual Fall Harvest Dinner on November 8, 2009 starting with a “Meet the Farmer “ reception at 4:00 pm follow by dinner at 5:00 pm. Dinner will be Legare Farms’ own beef, pork, and fall vegetables prepared by some of Charleston’s finest chefs. Chefs include: Chef Fred Neuville from Fat Hen Restaurant; Chef Jacques Larson from Wild Olive Restaurant; Chef Traci Colyer, Chef Steven Stackley, and Chef Rhett Thomas from Savory Sushi and Catering; Chef Craig Deihl from Cypress; Chef Micah Garrison from Middleton Place Restaurant; Chef Marc Collins from Circa 1886; Chef Nathan Thurston from The Ocean Room at Kiawah; Chef Matt Bolus from Red Sky; Chef Charles Vincent, Chef Chris Stewart,and Sarah O’Kelley from The Glass Onion; Chef Scott Fales from Pinckney Café A La Carte. Beverages will be donated by Irvin House Vineyards, Palmetto Brewery, and Island Coffee. Dessert cookies are being donated by  Olde Colony Bakery.

All proceeds from this event go to Legare Farms’ Education Foundation. The foundation is a non-profit initiative whose mission is to help raise awareness and educate Lowcountry communities and school children on the agricultural history and heritage of this region and the need to maintain this heritage for future generations. Legare farms is a family farm that has been continually operating since 1725. Linda, Helen, and Thomas Legare are the ninth generation of Legares to farm on Johns Island.
